Some Big Zzyzx In Tonight’s Games

Detroit is finished, and Pittsburgh is climbing back.

Nashville took out the Red Wings in five game by winning 2-1 on home ice, while the Penguins won a beauty in Pittsburgh by a score of 3-2 over the Flyers, which now narrows the gap in the series to 3 games to 2 for the Flyers. The were no eight goals allowed, or ten. It was strictly playoff hockey this time around.

With Nashville doing so well, I feel a country song being written as we speak by an inspired and love-struck Carrie Underwood to her man Mike Fisher. Like, “I Wish You’d Need An Oversize Jock,” and “Baby, I Love That You’re My Stick Boy.”

Is Gomez gone yet?

It’s all what the sign says, found somewhere in the desert between L.A. and Vegas.

Zzyzx. Whatever it means.

  1. Here’s what Googling it reveals:
The name Zzyzx was given to the area in 1944 by Curtis Howe Springer, claiming it to be the last word in the English language. Springer made up the word’s pronunciation “zy-zick”. He established the Zzyzx Mineral Springs and Health Spa in 1944 at the spot, which was federal land, after filing mining claims for 12,000 acres (49 km2) surrounding the springs. He used the springs to bottle his water and provide drinks for travelers through the hot desert. Springer also imported animals from around the country to attract more families to visit his ranch. He used Zzyzx until 1974, when he was arrested by the United States Marshals for misuse of the land as well as alleged violations of food and drug laws,[citation needed] and the land was reclaimed by the government.

Since 1976, the Bureau of Land Management has allowed California State University to manage the land in and around Zzyzx. A consortium of CSU campuses use it as their Desert Studies Center.
