Young Habs Before They Were Habs

giontaBrian Gionta, shown here, was just a little fellow and still growing when this picture was taken. Isn’t it great to see an old photo of a player when he was young and hadn’t grown into that big, tall strapping player we know now?

Also shown, Paul Mara, who was so young when this was taken he could barely grow a beard.

  1. PS. the game sucked and I had to shut the people around me up who started booing their own Canadiens. I guess you can say the most exciting part was watching PK going end to end. Since a lot of the “fans” left the game after the penalty shot, I decided to go down into the lower bowl for better seats. I ended up second row from the glass. Pronger is a lot bigger in real life

  2. Yeah, Gillis, not a great game to be at. And I think I’d lose my patience with those fans around me. One of these days I’m going to get back to Montreal and see a game. I can’t wait.

  3. This is great! Those pictures are from Tournoi pee-wee de Quebec (http://www.tournoipee-wee.qc.ca). I know a yoggurt company is giving hockey cards like those pics when you purchase their product. There is one of Mike Cammalleri! I saw it at my local Metro grocerie store.

  4. Thanks, JFLecours. I didn’t know these are from the Tournoi de Quebec and I found that interesting. I would have loved to have played in that. I can’t imagine a 13 year old kid playing in front of more than 10,000 people. So thanks again, now I know the origin of the photos.
