  1. It’s starting to look like the roster the Habs will be rolling with this year.

Like every year… I’ll be keeping an eye on Hamilton… occasionally looking to see how the guys are doing over there…

I’d love to see a few guys have strong years in the AHL.

Eric Neilson for one. He won me over during camp.

David Desharnais…. how can you not cheer a guy like that on..

P.K. Subban of course. Can’t wait to see how he does in the AHL… and we might see a glimpse of him through the year.

It’s funny… waited all summer for these pre-season games… I’m almost sad to see the cuts.

    😉

  2. All those guys had good camps and are the future. Right now, I’m a little concerned about Gregory Stewart’s lacklustre play.

  3. I agree Dennis.

I was really surprised that he wasn’t more involved.

He seemed to be very aggressive last season… this camp he’s almost playing like he “has” a spot.

  4. We have many Habs prospects over the years who were successful in junior or the AHL level like JP Cote, Duncan Milroy, Kyle Chipchura, Matt Carle, too name a few who could not make that next leap to the NHL with our Habs.

Remember, these guys were tagged by the media as our next up and coming prospects over the years and have become disappointments.

Being from Hamilton, I am looking forward to seeing some of these young guys like Subban and Webber hopefully develop and hopefully step it up to play for Montreal.

Will these 2 can’t miss prospects develop or won’t they? Who knows and time will only tell.

    Nothing surprises me anymore.

Guys like Stewart, D’Agostini, Sergei Kostitsyn could be on the bubble which tells you they still have to develop in Hamilton and may not be in the plans for Montreal.

Some guys develop faster than others but I see nothing wrong if some of our future Habs prosepcts stay in Hamilton for at least 2 seasons.

  5. I emailed the Belleville Bulls asking to speak to a coach about Subban but I never heard back. I’d like to see more of him and pay more attention. I also sort of thought D’Agostini was almost a lock because he’s a bit of a goal scorer. Sergei Kostitsyn? What a complicated thing, this story. He has the tools but so far hasn’t stepped up to the plate. In this pre-season, the new guys, the summer signings, have lived up to their billing. Stewart and Sergei amd the others need to pick it up. And I think Plekanec has picked it up a little because he and Gionta seem to have formed a sort of bond.
