Those Great Old Habs Jacket Crests

From my collection, three examples of Habs team jacket crests from days gone by, and all made with that cool chenille fabric. Although chenille is notorious for the colour running if washed or in heavy rain.

From the 1950s:

The early 1960s:

And unsure exactly about the era, but it’s a 1940s design with the top right coming up so high:

From Wikipedia:

The chenille yarn is manufactured by placing short lengths of yarn, called the “pile”, between two “core yarns” and then twisting the yarn together. The edges of these piles then stand at right angles to the yarn’s core, giving chenille both its softness and its characteristic look. Chenille will look different in one direction compared to another, as the fibers catch the light differently. Chenille can appear iridescent without actually using iridescent fibers. The yarn is commonly manufactured from cotton, but can also be made using acrylic, rayon and olefin.

  1. Dennis! It’s Bill I am here to rant. And no book writing yet, and yes I am glad the PEnguins won and Subhan and his yodeling fan club didnt get to the faces of Montrealers in the dirty of their never ending acclaim and victory! which they didnt get . So Long Live Crosby.!
Now I didnt come here to rave about the Penguins but about the trades and possible trades facing the Habs__ Namely Radulov and Markov two Russians who are just fine fellow s but want millions to be a Hab etc. Now let’s leave Rad aside for the moment and consider Markov the d man, O yes the big d man whose point total in the last 5 game was: actually 0! yes, and he got some other percentage 2 pls 1s, 2 minus 1’s and a grand 2! Wow! Now this chap is going to leave hockey in about a year or so assuming he doesnt get injured before __ and he has had a history of that _- and he merely wants a 2 yr contract (hes 38) for a mere 12 million bucks! After all hes a real D man and he’s sure to deliver. Now if Bergie falls for this Russian bs the Habs are shooting themselves in the foot and bringing al of their apologists with them along to Hell in a handbasket. The business with Galchenyuk has also not been settled, so there’s three Russians not just 2 Hahahahah. Russia versus Canada! But seriously this Radulov guy, he ‘s fine he wants what was it? Last I heard 7 years and 42 million? I guess he supports the Capitalist system eh! Ooppslet me chek its 7million for 6 years! what’s 7 x 6? 42 million! chicken feed! for him and his little family especially around Canada day! I dont need to leave links . We all know how to find these things on google or whatever service you use, or etc. And 27 the boy wonder who’s neither center nor wing, the one who cant make up his mind and whom nobody else could either. Someone and mor e than one person lays the blame for that on Bergie and MT’s door and the other guys who were part of his shaping in the Habs. He and Markov and Radu and all Russian free agents! just ready for the big bucks eh! Will they do their job when the time comes? Can they? Are there any assurances they will? What protection does the club have if they dont’? and what about the fans? year in and year out? Dont get me wrong, I think Radu is fine and sincere but I also think he’s got the taste for big bucks now, just like Markov and I say let Bergie get them way down, or throw them to the dogs, and let MOntreal tank out. Keep Price, eventually get rid of Patchs and do what the Oilers and Toronto did for a couple of years, sink the ship.

Cheers Dennis! Happy Canada Day Pardon my bad mood grumblings however I am peeved and frustrated and fed up with this pathetic side of our wonderful Canadian and world wide sport! Hockey/O I love the sound of the puck banging off the boards in the winter and the stick clacking against the ice, and the skates cutting the ice, and the breath coming hot and steamy and frosty at the same time!

    God Bless

  2. Bill, once again, a friggin’ awesome comment from you. At this time I see Price signs an 8-year extension, which is good I think. Hopefully he stays healthy for eight years. As far as Markov and Radulov go, I’d love to see both stay, but Markov is no spring chicken, and six million a year for two years is a lot. Radulov told us time and time again how he appreciated the team taking a chance on him, and kept saying how much he loves Montreal and Habs fans, but in the end, it’s all just lip service, as it is with most athletes. They spend too much time listening to their agents, and sure enough, their way of thinking changes. Money, money, money, money, money. There’s never enough for multi-millionaires.

  3. Dennis what a great line that’d be for a songL ‘There’s never enough money for millionaires.’ Anyhow, let’s keeping on keeping and see how it turns out. I like Drouin, but it’s summer now and nothing much to learn till the fall.! Enjoy your time, and take care!
