They don't need to be wearing tuxedos and suits. It looks horrible on them. Maybe a team jersey or something more relaxing would make the players more relaxed. Why are hockey players not funny when giving speeches? I turned it on while Datsyuk gave his first speech. Three hours later, when I woke up from the coma, the show was over. Plus, shouldn't they be on the aisle seat? Datsyuk had to keep stepping over people to get to the stage. I think a small place with real fans would go over better. It would sound loud, and come across so much better. I’d make a few changes.

Its beyond me how Evgeni Malkin can lead the league in points and assists and was +17 to ovechkins plus +8 in +/- and not win either one of those awards considering the past few years the winner of the art ross came home with at least one of those awards. Ovechkin is definitely a worthy choice but I just dont see how he could win them over Malkin. I share the same thoughts as you on the awards show in general though Dennis. The only difference is I wasnt the least bit surprised to see that it stunk. The NHL is horrible at marketing events whether it be the start of the season, the all star game or the playoffs, they cant seem to do anything right when it comes to this stuff. It was to bad they couldnt have had the lead singer of Def Leopard wrap the year up like he started it by presenting all the trophys to the players upside down last night, maybe that would have made the show more exciting.
