Re-posting – The Good Old Stubby Beer Bottle

This little ditty got ripped off and buried because of the Guy Lafleur problems. So I’m putting it back on. The stubby beer bottle needs respect.

Remember the stubby? They were Canada’s beer bottle from 1961 until 1984, but alas, they’ve gone the way of the dodo bird. One story has it that stubbies came into being because it was harder to use as a weapon because of the lack of a neck, but that’s probably just an urban myth. In reality, they were simply cheaper to store and transport because they took up less room. So why we’ve gone to the long-necks, I’ve no idea.

Years ago, my friend Mike, whose comments you see here often, owned this bottle with the Habs label, and I pestered him so much, he relented and gave it to me. Thanks Mike. I’ve always taken care of it.
