Ralph Backstrom, a great Hab, a tremendous skater, and the player I tried to copy when I was young. Although it didn’t help.
What’s he up to now?
Huge thanks to my buddy Mel St. Onge in Orillia for sending me this terrific news clip from Colorado.

Thanks to Mr. Backstrom, the Habs were able to draft my favorite player of all-time, Guy! I think the KIngs were making a run at last place, so Mr. Pollack trade Mr. Backstrom to Los Angeles to solidify last place for the Seals. That’s really interesting stuff about him being the inventor of roller blades.. I hope he’s being rewarded for that better than he and all NHL players were. Too bad financial common sense led to the Eagles having cheerleaders. It may put bums in the seats but it ain’t hockey.
