Okay Super-Sleuths – What’s This One?

Danno and Christopher figured out the last two things, the 1972 Summit Series game 8 ticket stub, and the Russian version of Bobby Orr’s book, in no time flat. They’re the modern-day versions of Columbo.

Or maybe it was just too easy.

I don’t know if they’ll get this. Somebody might, though.

Just click on it so it gets bigger and have a read.

  1. Looks like an invitation for the 50th anniversary party of the Swedish Hockey Association.

Ugh, typing in Swedish is difficult. Google translates it badly as

    Welcome our guests dream!
SWEDISH Ice Hockey Association turns 50! We have planned to celebrate our anniversary with ice in all forms. For young and old, amateur and pro.
You who are fortunate enough to join the European premiere now learn to know our guests dream, Team Canada, with all the famous, legendary pros from the NHL.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN EUROPE, for the first time, ready to on this page meet amateurs – a highlight of our anniversary celebration! Welcome to Europe, to Sweden and to Stockholm! And Good Luck – both here and in the Soviet!
A Warm Welcome also to our own Swedish anniversary guests. These many – thousands of earnest workers in the ice hockey everyday – put special mark on our anniversary, as well as guests from the International Hockey League.
Thanks also to the Jubilee Committee, which two years worked on a huge amount of commemorative programs aiming at these days and on much else around!
With matches Tre Kronor – TEAM CANADA have their efforts rewarded with more than full dividends.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST also a thank you and welcome to the Three Crowns in modern guise! They have given us many happy moments – and one other disappointment is long since forgotten – we thank you and wish happiness and success will continue. Both for their sake, but at least as much work for everyone – the great Swedish hockey family – our sake!

In case anyone has a better translator, here’s what I copied

  2. Looks like an ad for the games between Sweden and Canada that were a warm up before the final four games of the ’72 Summit series in Moscow

Canada was accused of being a brutal team to the Swedes, but the officiating was deemed questionable by Canada.

Handy that I just watched ” ’72 From Training Camp to Victory”

and tommorow I’m meeting Tretiak AND Henderson!!! WOO HOO!

  3. Hi Kevin,
The Swedes were vicious in Stockholm, and you’re right, the officiating was sub-par as usual. Enjoy meeting the boys.

  4. I don’t think I quite got it as well as Kevin did. He deserves the sleuth prize. I focused too much on the headline and didn’t realize that their 50th anniversary was in ’72 was and what the NHL players were really doing there.
