Oh, Did The Leafs Lose?

I’m afraid to say anything regarding the Leafs’ epic collapse against the Bruins in game seven. I’m a firm believer in karma, and I feel if I mention how the Leafs folded like a cheap suit, somehow the hockey gods will take note and give me royal payback sometime next season.

So nuff said.

The Leafs lost. Yes they did. It was wild. Unfortunately, the Bruins won. It was a classic no-win situation.

How was that, hockey gods? You ain’t got nothin on me. I didn’t say a thing. I’m innocent.

  1. Something I didn’t know, but heard after the game: The Leafs were the first team in NHL history to blow a three-goal lead in the third period of a Stanley Cup playoff game.

  2. Correction: The Leafs were the first team in NHL history to blow a three-goal lead in the third period of a Game Seven.

  3. Forgive, for I have sinned… I was against the Laffs. I switched over to the NO-vie show after it was 4-1, but came back to see Horton make it 4-2. The only regret was the US feed had US announcers. I would have given anything to listen and see the mass suicide on CBC. I bet Healy cried on air!

  4. Why was I still nervous when they where up 4-1 with 12 mins left ….

Because it was the story of a fragile defence held up by super hot goaltending

all season… realistically Leafs should have been done in 5 at the most..

Overall a great year for my Leafs who came from nowhere last year…

Time to keep adding the pieces….

Reluctantly hope the Senators do well (I have lived here for 35 years)

Leaf Nation will be ok.. after all we pushed the Bruins to game 7

  5. Complete disbelief. I’d be crushed if that was my team. Crushed. I was actually rooting for them. I can never root for the Bruins. Never. Now I’m going for Ottawa although my hockey pool wouldn’t suggest that. I won’t be glued to the TV like I am for my guys, but nonetheless, if the Sens are still in, I hope they go all the way.

  6. Beatnik, my answer about this is this. Of course I’d like to see the Cup in Canada. But all in all, I don’t care all that much. And I’m as Canadian as can be. As Canadian as any other Canadian. Maybe more than many. But if a bunch of Canadians, Swedes, Russians, and Americans etc. go against another team full of Canadians, Swedes, Russians, and Americans etc., it doesn’t really bring out the patriot in me. Fans in Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto etc. hate my team as much as U.S.fans do. Honestly, I don’t really care and I’m too old to change.

  7. Mike McKim. Maybe the Leafs would have won if Mike Komisarek was in the lineup! And the saddest thing about the loss is Dion Phaneuf won’t win the Conn Smythe now! šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚

  8. Ian, that had to be a tough one to take for Leaf fans. Wow! I hope our team learned something from that.

  9. Marjo, I’ve decided something. I’ve looked at all the teams, and I’m going for the Byers Bulldozers. They haven’t it before and they’re due. They’re not dirty, they have an excellent smallish-yet-shifty right winger, and it would be good for Orillia and its sagging economy.

  10. Leaf Fan, your team made some big strides and serious noise. You should be proud of them. But tell Grabovski not to go for the empty net until he crosses the red line.

  11. DK, I’m with you brother, I could care less who wins. If we’re not in it the seasons OVER!!!

  12. The Habs have following in the US, probably only behind the Wings and Chicago in popularity…
