It wasn’t all that long ago, 15 months or so, when Alex Kovalev left Montreal and was off to Ottawa.
When Kovalev was a Montreal Canadien, he provided more fodder for writers than any other Hab. It was Kovalev this, Kovalev that. Kovalev has one great and magnificent game, then five or ten terrible ones. Kovalev goes for a walk with Gainey; Kovalev releases an instructional video showing him do tricks with a stick and puck; He’s lazy, he’s not lazy, he’s misunderstood, brilliant, a bum.
It was Kovalev on a daily basis.
Now, 15 months later, Kovalev is playing on the fourth line with the Senators.
