It’ll Be Canucks And Sharks

The San Jose Sharks squeaked out a 3-2 win in game seven over the Detroit Red Wings, and Detroit’s big comeback from down three games to none has come to an abrupt end.

So goodbye, Red Wings, say hello to the wives and kids before you hit the golf course. And Canucks fans everywhere can go to bed knowing who their team will meet in the Western Conference final – the Sharks.

Who knows how this intriguing series will develop? Will the Sedins finally play like they did during the regular season? Will Patrick Marleau, after scoring in this game seven, go on a scoring tear? Will San Jose find a way to choke? Will Vancouver find a way to choke? Are the Sharks too rugged for the Canucks? Will Ryan Kesler continue his Conn Smythe ways? Will Joe Thornton be a stud or a dud? How do the Green Men go to the bathroom?

Actually, I wanted to see Detroit beat the Sharks. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because Pavel Datsyuk is fun to watch.

  1. Hey Dennis, Here is what I see in the way off the Vanucks winning another series……The Sedins. These guys have not elevated their play as have others in their class, they are sitting back watching the proceedings like a drunk watches a bartender scoop up his last pennies after his final drink has disapeared. They have no get up and go for it motivation and they wont get to sip from le coupe de Stanley if they dont get their shit together. These guys have led their team in scoring all year and for a team to lose that much firepower in the playoffs could be more devastating then a tsunami on Savary island. It’s different being a critic as I cant be like this with the Habs.

  2. I think everybody is hitting the panic button to quick with the sedin twins. Its not like they are completely none existent. Daniel has 10 points in 13 games in the playoffs and had 4 points in 6 games in the nashville series. I dont know how that is considered bad? its not great but its still production. Henrick has struggled a little more but still has 9 points in 13 games and had 3 points in the 6 games against nashville which isnt fantastic but its still a point every other game. I agree that they arnt putting up the typical numbers that they are capable of but they definately are not hurting the canucks.

  3. Jordy, you’re right. I didn’t realize their numbers were that good. But it’s the mark of a superstar when we automatically think they should have so many more. Most players would kill for 10 points in 13 games. Thanks.
