I’m With Max Of Course

A very interesting story has emerged regarding a disagreement betwen Max Pacioretty and league suspension-giver-outer Brendan Shanahan.
Max says that during his recent hearing for coldcocking Kris Letang, Shanahan compared it to the Matt Cooke/Marc Savard affair.
Shanahan insists he didn’t say this.
So who was it? I’m siding with Max. He says his agent and Pierre Gauthier can vouch for him.
The story can be seen here Pacioretty Disputes Shanahan’s Words, and thanks to both Mike Williamson and Danno for sending it along.

It’s hard to say what happened because Pacioretty seems like a straight-up guy. It could be he was really pissed off and misinterpreted his (Shanny’s)words but still, it makes you wonder. Apparently the call is on a party line and no one else has come forward, as far as I know, to stand up for either one in this case.
It’d be interesting to hear the actual call. We never will, but I’d still like to hear it out of curiosity.

I still find it really peculiar that Shanahan went completely off topic and started talking about how he didn’t suspend Gionta after he was pushed into Leafs goalie James Reimer.
To me Shanahan is like a bad ref who reacts to blowhards like His Trucculence Brian Burke. What he was really saying is he punished Pacioretty because he owed one to Burkie. It was his version of a make up call, so to speak.
I have no doubt Shanahan did what Pacioretty is talking about. And I wouldn’t be surprised the NHL slaps him with a fine or finds some other way to get even with him for spilling the beans about how corrupt and incompetent the NHL brass are in dealing with disciplinary matters.
I can’t wait to see how Shanahan is going to rule on the Tootoo hit on Miller.
He’s painted himself into a corner now and with every decision he looks more and more like Colin Campbell with a face transplant.
Stay tuned.

An exclusive look into Andrei Markov’s operation:

batteries not included………. no wonder markov is taking so long.

On Saturday when Markov’s operation was first announced the ETA was 3+ weeks. Now after a successful operation it’s now 4-6 weeks. We’ve got to learn to have a play-play with what we’ve got and when he comes back for the play-offs it will be bonus.

I get the feeling he won’t be back until after the All-Star Game. If so I hope he’s raring to go and tears it up. I wonder if Gomez will have actually scored a goal by then?

Not bad Darth. The all-star game is in 8 weeks after which we’ll still have 33 games left. I don’t think it’s too much to ask that we be in at least 6th place by then. And then with him we’ll win the division, leaving the Bruins and the Leafs choking on our dust.

Darth, is it the All Star Game this year or next?

The thought of Gomez still on our team next year gives me nightmares.

Gomez is with us for 2 more years (2013-2014). Depressing. I think once markov is back it will take him at least two months to get back to 100%, if he doesn’t get injured. JM must ease him back into the line-up with very few minutes to begin. I doubt JM is smart enough to do this tho.
And shanahan is a moron. Max has 2 witnesses and shanny still denies comparing. SHanny sounds like an idiot responding. A true professional likely would not respond to the media. This high school dropout isn’t a professional. He is just some guy who knows people in high places just as stupid and unprofessional as he is. I expect Shanny to continue to embarrass himself in the press often. Jack-ass!
