I Think It’s Good Anyway

Once again, for your possible reading enjoyment, some drawings from my grade two exercise book done at West Ward Public School in Orillia, and which I’ve managed to hold on to all these years.

Yes, some of you have seen some of this before, but I’ve added more this time, so that’s good right?

And as another added bonus, I include a photo of West Ward school in the process of burning to the ground in 1968.

But first things first, my art from grade two, lots of it, and which includes some Habs, a portrait of my teacher Mrs. Williams, along with Elvis Presley, which I spelled ‘Elive Prisie’.

If all this isn’t enticing, I don’t know what is.

  1. Oh boy that brings back memories . Many a teacher gave me heck for wasting paper . It was not considered by me to be a waste , my heros were worth it every time . Great work there Monsieur artiste !

  2. You had talent Dennis. The pencil drawing with the keyboard with the simple figure is sublime. Could be passed off as a Picasso contemporary. Very advanced stuff for grade 2.

  3. Great drawings Dennis.
I think that West Ward School burned in 1968 as that is the year that I moved to Orillia to work at OSMH.
My sister and her family were visiting from Sudbury and we took the kids up to watch the school burning. They were impressed!
I enjoy your posts and think that you are doing a wonderful job of raising your little granddaughter.
    Cheers from Orillia, On.

  4. Didn’t you throw anything out?…I’m envious.
I wish i had a lot of my childhood to adolescent stuff….now gone…fortantely the memorie are still there.
    Thanks for sharing.
