Habs And The Rest – Vegas Odds

Beatnik sends the NHL Vegas odds from VegasInsider.com. As you can see, the Canadiens sit at 40 to 1. So put a hundred bucks down on the Habs and win four thousand!

Montreal’s open odds were initially 20 to 1 but currently are 40 to 1. What this means is, the open odds were set before the season started, with the current being now. With Montreal’s mediocre season so far, Vegas has lost faith in them.

I wanted to get a true explanation of the difference between open odds and current odds, so I did what I had to do. I phoned the Nevada Gaming Commission in Vegas and a fellow there explained it to me. Once he had, it seemed completely obvious and I felt a little silly.

I had first tried the Mirage Hotel down there but they informed me that the Gaming Commission doesn’t allow phone calls into sports betting rooms. So I went right to the heart of the matter.

It’s also interesting see how other teams opened and how they sit now. Chicago and Buffalo for example. Even Toronto.

  1. I’m still thinking of putting a wager down. Just 25 bucks though. I’ll use my winnings to buy Habs 25th Cup merchandise!
