Rene Bourque
“I know I’m still a good player and I’m not going to worry about that. It’s just been a tough go. It’s going to be a big summer for me. I had the worst year of my career as far as points go this season. Now I need to come back and have a good year.”
“I still think that the Battle of Alberta is the best in hockey since I’ve played in most of those games. I’ve really only had a chance to face Boston and Toronto a couple of times since I got to Montreal. I’m sure it won’t take too long for me to start hating the guys from other teams here. Give it some time.”
“I love this city (Montreal). I’d rather live here than Calgary any day of the week.”

I know it when I read it. Bourque is standing on a mountain of it. What a load of Gomez!

Mike, I feel I agree with you. It’s like he’s making a promise like Gomez. And sucking up to Montrealers. We’ll see. He sure didn’t seem all that enthusiastic last year.

Well boys I’m sure it won’t take long to see which Bourque shows up. It was the same for Gomez, I think he did prepare himself for last season like never before, I mean just out of pride but for what ever reason he just hasn’t got it anymore. There is a tonne of pressure to live up to that contract and I cannot believe that Gomez or anyone else wouldn’t care. Now for a real workout check the article by Dan Rosen of NHL.com. on Subban. 220lbs!!!

I agree he’s sucking up, but I find it hard to believe anyone would prefer to live in Calgary over Montreal. You don’t even have to be a hockey fan to appreciate the difference.

And we gave up a sniper to get him.

Chris, I lived in Calgary for seven years and yes, I definitely would prefer Montreal.
August 28th, 2012 at 7:10 pm
Hobo, that’s the problem. Bourque was supposed to be a sniper with toughness and we didn’t see either. It was like he was sleeping.

Ah, the good ol’ infamous promise. Notice how Gomez didn’t give one this year? Hmm.
Well, let’s all believe it when we see it. Hopefully he can do it, but I won’t hold my breath just in case.
I really want these “I’ll apply myself when I feel like it” players out of here. We don’t need them. We’re better off signing some Joe off the street for much cheaper – we’d save the money AND the guy would probably do as well.
Getting back to Gomez, it looks like he’ll be here. We should all hold a contest to see how many goals he’ll actually score. I say 5.

Darth, I say the number of goals Gomez will score will be…..hmm, um, I think…zero.
August 28th, 2012 at 10:54 pm
If Buttman doesn’t wise up, no one will be scoring any goals this year.

Dennis
Now look what you’ve done. RB has gone and torn his abdominal do dah whatsit trying to get in better shape having taken your comments to heart. He’s out for 12 weeks now.
Now it’s not for me to jeopordise the future of my good friend Dr Bayou’s future in the organisation when you take over but you need to talk to him about how to use motivational techniques to help the players rather than drive them into self-harm.
Or else focus on how Brad Marchand needs to improve and with luck there’ll be a similar result

Mrs Bourque (Rene’s Mum)
ps It’s only because you’re a nice man that I haven’t popped round and given you a right ol’ handbagging

Dear Mrs. Bourque,
Sorry to hear about your son. One question – has he always had narcolepsy?
August 29th, 2012 at 1:10 pm
Not to defend Bourque but he said he much prefers to live in Montreal & not Calgary.
August 29th, 2012 at 1:17 pm
Mike, yeah, I wasn’t sure if Christopher misunderstood or not.
August 29th, 2012 at 3:02 pm
Sorry, I may not have written my comment very well. What I was trying to write was that he was trying to suck up, but not doing a very good job. Damning with faint praise comes to mind.
