Belle Up, Bergeron Not Quite

Apparently, Marc-Andre Bergeron isn’t quite in shape yet to join the defence corps in Montreal. He fact, for some of the Canadiens brass, he isn’t even first in line to replace Yannick Weber, who was sent down to Hamilton. It kind of makes you wonder why Minnesota didn’t bother to re-sign him, why no one else signed this free agent, and why, when he was traded in the past, it was in return for later-round draft picks only.

Anyway, here’s the latest press release telling us about Shawn Belle joining the big club.

  1. I had hoped Belle would have been called up last year when the team seemed to fall apart.

He’s strong, can play physical, can skate…. he’s a stay at home defenseman….

    I’m glad he’s getting a shot.

I didn’t think he looked to bad in camp.

  2. Belle’s huge too. Only 6’1, but 240 pounds. That’s solid. Hopefully he does well and helps in a big way.

  3. I think Subban isn’t quite ready yet. He’s only played junior except for this year, and defencemen are different than forwards. They need more experience because of the important position they’re in.

  4. I agree with you Dennis.

Give Subban the year… learn the ropes of being a pro. And let him work hard with a great coach in Hamilton.

He’ll get hungry to want to play in Montreal.

I’m glad Belle is getting a shot.

  5. I get what you mean. Belle has been in the AHL for quite some time now. It’s about time he gets his opportunity to shine. I’m sure Subban will join the roster next year. I love PK he’s such a fun player to watch
