When I was about 13, I took a bus from Orillia to Montreal with a friend to see the Canadiens for my first time. It was the original Forum before it was renovated in 1968, and I remember there were pillars thoughout that caused obstructed views and I remember thinking that I was glad I wasn’t sitting behind one. I also took a picture of Toe Blake’s Tavern on Ste. Catherines, which is now long gone. (The tavern, not the street.)
On the bus ride back to Orillia, people were passing booze around and when my dad picked me up at the bus station, I was drunk. And he didn’t say one word about it.

I know personally I would have loved to watch a game at the forum and at Maple Leaf Gardens.

I’ve always been a packrat, like my grandmother, and so I managed to save a lot of stuff from when I was a kid. The problem is, I’ve been hauling it all around the country for years. But I’m really glad I kept a lot of my stuff. I work with a guy who has only one little address book from his early years. Just that and nothing else. It’s kind of sad, I think. Anyway, really glad you like the pictures. Thanks.

Really awesome pics Dennis! The story that goes with them is priceless…..It’s not that hard for me to understand why you are a Habs fan— you know what with the drinkin’ at 13 and the wide eyes and such………… I believe that my team is once again playing your team—4:30p.m. in God’s country! Go Canucks!

Lawrence, Those trouble makers were know & feared as” THE BOY’S ” . We just may have to pay you a visit & give you a little pep talk like we did to so many others ! Keep us updated DK on his known where abouts .

a Laval kid, i got taken there when I was too young to appreciate it. I did eventually grow to see some junior games in the Halifax Forum, former home of the Vees!
